Thoughts on Marriage

Hi Folks:

Today Marcia and I have been married for 10 years (120 Monthaversaries in our terms).  Next month we’ll have been a couple for 18 years.  Yes, that does qualify me as being the luckiest man in the world.  It also means that we were together for some eight years before we got married, and no, that wasn’t just because we had a very long ‘engagement’.  You see, for most of my life I didn’t believe in marriage…

He Says, She Says… Basic Math

Hello, dear Reader!

Yes, we usually do our ‘He Says, She Says…‘ posts on Sundays, but last Sunday was our 95th Monthaversary of the day we were married, and yesterday would have been Mike’s sister’s birthday, so things kinda got pushed forward.  We were going to let it go until next Sunday, but Marcia’s current schedule gives her little free time for computer work and we didn’t want you to think we’d abandoned you entirely.  To that end, this is going to be primarily a ‘He Says’ post.  Marcia does reserve final editing rights, of course! He Says, She Says…

Hello, Dear Reader:

Serendipity is a word that defines what some call a ‘happy accident’ or an unexpected and fortunate discovery.  It’s an onomatopoeic word, and has a lovely sound to it. It’s right up there with some of our other favourite ‘S’ words, like spontaneity and synchronicity.

Serendipity is also the title of a 2001 movie, a romantic comedy starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale.  It was on TV again recently and remains one of our ‘love to watch’ movies.

If you haven’t seen it we don’t want to spoil it for you, so we’ll put a ‘Spoiler Alert!‘ in here.  If you’d rather not know, skip down a couple of paragraphs. Continue Reading →

Mike’s Writings IX

Hi There:

Please click this link first.  I’ll wait.

Welcome back.  Well, I’m going to continue on with some more of my archived writings.  I did want to mention that these posts are (mostly) in chronological order, so if you want to read any particular post that’s certainly fine with me, but if you want to read all of them, you’d be best to read them in order from the original post on December 8, 2009 and work your way forward from there.  Entirely up to you of course!

Love,
Mike. Continue Reading →

Monthaversaries

Hi Folks:  Very, very early on in our relationship Marcia and I decided that Anniversaries are too far apart, and so while we celebrate every day together, every month we honour our Monthaversaries as well.  A couple of months ago we celebrated the 200th Monthaversary of the day we met, on a wintery hillside very early one morning.  But that’s another story.  We generally have four Monthaversaries every month – the day we first met, the day we became a couple, the day Marcia proposed to me, and the day we were married.  If you want another reason to celebrate the gift of love with those who are close to you, we recommend Monthaversaries very highly!

Love,
Us.

P.S.  I made this for Marcia today, and I wanted you all to be the first to see it:
Forever and For Always

Now go ahead and make your own!!
