2014 Photo Calendars

Update: If you’re looking for our 2016 calendar templates, please click here!

Hi Folks:

This is the fourth year now that we’ve made our MS Word photo calendar templates available, and as with last year, we’ve also created a series of templates and calendar images you can use with Lightroom or other graphics software.  I created a template in MS Word that allows people who don’t have Photoshop, Lightroom or the equivalent to make their own photo calendars, so we’ll cover that first; the Lightroom stuff is at the bottom of this post.  I used MS Word 2007 to make the template, but saved it as both a Word 2007 file and a Word 97-2003 compatible file. Basically it’s a series of tables, one for each month, that look something like this:

The large square at the top is a blank picture file. If you click on it and go to Insert/Picture or right-click on it and select Change Picture, you can replace the existing (blank) picture with one of your own. The easiest way is to select 12 images that all have the same size/shape (4×5 / 8×10 landscape aspect ratio); otherwise you may have to fiddle with the cell heights to make the calendar line up from month to month. Where it says ‘Caption’, you can highlight and type in your own caption for each image, or you can simply highlight and delete the text if you don’t want a caption. Here are the template files:

We’ve also made our own photo calendar available again this year. It looks like this:

2014 Photo Calendar

All of the images were made in Victoria, BC except for two.  November’s image was made in the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland, and December’s image was made in Amsterdam, Holland. Six of the images were made by Marcia and six by Mike; some were made using our cell phone cameras and some not. All were made in the month they represent (i.e. the image for January 2014 was made in January 2013, etc.) I saved it as a .pdf file, then zipped it to save a little space. Clicking on the picture above will enable you to download the zip file but please note this is a 7 MB file.

All of the images in the calendar are © copyright 2013 Marcia and Mike Nelson Pedde and are covered by a Creative Commons license, non-commercial, non-dervis. That means you can use them for personal use but not for business (okay to give them to family but not for sale), you can’t modify or change them in any way, and if you do use them you’ll give us credit for them by adding our names and linking back to this site or our Flickr site. Thanks!!

As mentioned above, I created a set of calendar files and two Lightroom templates for 2014 calendars. All of the images and instructions can be downloaded from this file: Calendar.zip. There are 13 calendar images: one for each month and one for the entire year. The monthly calendars look the same as the image at the top.  The templates are based on an 8″x10″ image size, so they’ll fit easily on letter-sized or A4-sized paper. The year calendar, created using the Lightroom template and one of my images and printed to .jpg from Lightroom, looks like this:

Year Calendar - LightroomOur best wishes to you and those close to you for a new year full of as much love, excitement, joy, peace and harmony as you can handle!

Hugs,

P.S. For the past several years, Ed Weaver at RED Photographic has made Lightroom calendar templates available. You can find the ones for 2014 here. Thomas Ljungberg also has a set of Lightroom calendar templates, here and Jerry Courvoisier has a set of templates for Lightroom that will fit in an empty CD case, here.  If I come across any others I’ll add them in.

December 28, 2013: NASA has an ‘APOD’ (Astronomy Photo of the Day) photo calendar for 2014 available as a .pdf download, here.

P.S. II, the sequel: You can find more of our posts on photography and Lightroom tutorials here, and you can find links to over 200 other sites that have Lightroom tips, tutorials and videos here.
