2020 Photo Calendars

Hi Folks:

This is the tenth year now that we’ve made our MS Word photo calendar templates available, and as with the past several years, we’ve also created a series of templates and calendar images you can use with Lightroom or other graphics software. As we’ve done before we’ve also added a full-page calendar option, below.

I created a template in MS Word that allows people who don’t have Photoshop, Lightroom or the equivalent to make their own photo calendars, so we’ll cover that first; the Lightroom stuff is below that. I used MS Word 2016 to make the template and saved it as a .docx file. Basically it’s a series of tables, one for each month, that look something like this:

January 2020 Calendar TemplateThe large square at the top is a blank table cell. If you click on it and go to Insert/Picture you can add your own image. The easiest way is to select 12 images that all have the same size/shape (4×5 / 8×10 landscape aspect ratio); otherwise you may have to fiddle with the cell heights to make the calendar line up from month to month. Here is the template file:

We’ve also made our own photo calendar available again this year. It looks like this:

M&M's 2020 Photo CalendarWe made over 10K images this year; Mike sorted them down to about 70 and Marcia selected 12 from those. Almost all of the images were made on Vancouver Island, BC. The image for January was made in Edmonton, AB and the image for June was made in Kelowna, BC. Some of the images were made by Marcia and some by Mike. Some images were made with our cell phones and some with Mike’s Sony A7R III. All images were made in the month they represent (i.e. the image for January 2020 was made in January 2019, etc.) I saved it as a .pdf file; clicking on the picture above will enable you to download the .pdf.

All of the images in the calendar are © Copyright 2019 Marcia and Mike Nelson Pedde:

Thanks!!

As mentioned above, I created a set of calendar files and two Lightroom templates for the 2020 calendars. All of the images and instructions can be downloaded from this file: 2020 Calendar Templates.zip. There are 13 calendar images: one for each month and one for the entire year. The monthly calendars look the same as the image at the top. The templates are based on an 8″x10″ image size, so they’ll fit easily on letter-sized or A4-sized paper. The annual calendar, created using the Lightroom template and one of our images and printed to .jpg from Lightroom, looks like this:

2020 Annual CalendarFinally, as mentioned at the top, we’ve added 12 more high-resolution calendar images (one for each month), but with each month occupying a full 8×10″ space. They look like this:

Hugs,

P.S. For the past several years, Ed Weaver at RED Photographic has made Lightroom calendar templates available. You can find the ones for 2020 here. Helen Bradley also has a set of templates for Lightroom for 2019 to 2021 here. Jeffrey Friedl has made a Photoshop script/ template set for 2016-2020, here. And Matt Kloskowski has a set of 2020 templates for Lightroom and ON1 Photo here. Matt also has a post on creative calendar ideas here. If I come across any others I’ll add them in.

P.S. II, the sequel: You can find more of our posts on photography and Lightroom tutorials here, and you can find links to over 200 other sites that have Lightroom tips, tutorials and videos here.
