Hi Folks:
Normally for my ‘Photo of the Month’ posts I highlight my favourite image made in the past month. However, since Marcia’s new book, “A Year in the Life of a Bus-Traveling Poet” was opened for sale on May 21, I thought I’d profile the two images I’ve made (so far) that grace book covers, and the books on which you can find them. I’ll start with Marcia’s…
The original image is of a blue flag iris. I made this image many years ago (on Kodachrome 25, my favourite film of all time) at Petroglyphs Provincial Park in southern Ontario.
Although not well seen on the front cover (the cover designer (Me) pasted a graphic over top), the soft greens fit well with the theme of the book and the image is better seen on the back cover:
The second image is one I made in Kelowna, BC a few years ago. It was one of my first forays into using Lightroom’s ‘negative clarity’ slider.
Our friend Robert, who’s the Executive Director of the Okanagan Institute asked if he could use the image for the cover of a book the Institute was publishing. The book is titled, “Global Citizen – River of Love and Other Essays” by Stan Chung. You can read more about the book and order it from the link, but here’s the cover:
Okay, that’s it! Now go out and make some photographs!!
Hugs,
Mike.
