Marcia’s Meanderings – Making Room for Rumi

Hello Dear Ones!

The clock is ticking down to June 30th – the deadline date to getting my first book to the publisher.  At this point I may even be successfully completed all the finite details today – that would be grand!

Rather than stressing about the potential time constraint, I thought to inspire myself with some of my favourite quotes. Rumi is one of my most inspirational and uplifting authors. Here then are, in my estimation, some of the best of the best of his quotes – the simplicity and wisdom that is Rumi:

What keeps us from joining the dance the dust particles do?

Listen, O Drop, give yourself up without regret, and in exchange gain the Ocean.

Observe the wonders as they occur around you. Don’t claim them. Feel the artistry moving through and be silent.

Stretch yourself, widen yourself, tear yourself open!

In your light I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems.

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don’t go back to sleep!

You are a volume in the divine book.  A mirror to the power that created the universe.

Set your sights on a place higher than your eyes can see.

Stop looking for something out there and begin looking within.

If a sorrowful thought stands in the way, remember it is also preparing the way for joy.

The hurt we embrace becomes joy. Call it to your arms where it can change.

You think you are separate from the Source? How can wetness leave water?

Listen to the music within, and lay your head under the tree of awe.

What hurts the soul? to live without tasting the water of its own essence.

You are not just a drop in the ocean. You are the mighty ocean in the drop.

There is a fountain inside you. Don’t walk around with an empty bucket.

Don’t hide the candle of your clarity. Stand up and burn brightly.

Get yourself out of the way, and let joy have more space.

The wound is the place where the Light enters you.

Please, universal soul, practice your divine song through me!

Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.

You are the universe in ecstatic motion.

Not only the thirsty seek the water, the water as well seeks the thirsty.

With every breath I plant the seeds of devotion. I am a farmer of the heart.

Of these, my very favourites are the first and the last entries …

May you create the most amazing week for yourself, Dear Reader! Be playful. And in all your undertakings, may you be the wind beneath someone’s wings …

In Light and Laughter,

Marcia
