He Says – Then and Now

Hi Folks:

Well, it’s been an interesting week!  Last weekend we went to visit our new grandson, his brother, and the extended family, and this week we seem to be catching up from time away.  That little one has such wisdom in his eyes, but also a gentle innocence.  Such is the way of infants.  Brings me to wonder what exciting adventures he’ll encounter on his path through this life, and that brings me to thinking about mine.

Several years ago I wrote a short story called ‘Again‘, which is about going back and meeting myself from an earlier time in my life.  It’s not a unique idea; Richard Bach for example explores it much more fully in his book ‘Running From Safety‘.  Still, such thoughts always turn me inward.  If I was to go and meet myself from ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty or more years ago, how would I appear to myself then?  How would my then self appear to me now?  Curious?  Suspicious?  Happy?  Scared?  Distant?  Truly I’ve been all of those things and more.  When I mine my memories of who I used to be, or more specifically who I remember myself being, I find little in common with those previous selves, other than a great thirst for knowledge, a willingness to ‘know’ everything, and a yearning for same.

As with all of my writings on topics of this nature, there is so much I could say, so much I could add in from others, and all of it seems to crowd into the front of my mind, jumping up and down and looking for attention.  Thoughts spin off in different directions, and yet I can’t write that way as one character follows another into words, sentences and paragraphs, moving across the page like a line of ants.  Anyway, I digress…

Okay, tea’s made and I’m back.  I’ve been reticent to write this post the way I was going to write it, and that’s usually an indication of forcing myself to do something when my impulses are taking me in another direction.  Funny, I was doing some writing about this yesterday, got interrupted (pleasantly, by Marcia) in the middle of it, and when I went back to writing later in the day was lovingly chewed out by some of those who guide me.  I won’t include here what was given, but there’s a section in the Conscious Creation.com writings that sums it up pretty well:

That is to say, enjoy the process itself, understanding that this is part of the experiencing of the process. For if you attempt the process in seriousness, self-judgment, or with a feeling of “necessary work”, then you defeat your own purpose. We give you every opportunity to follow this line of thinking to its bountiful, logical, and self-fulfilling conclusions. For seriously, what is the point, if you are going to undertake this new way of living, of undertaking it from the old rational mind perspective? Indeed if you are going to do this, then never mind the whole job, skip it, forget about it. For it would be better for you not to do it at all, than for you to do it out of some sense of obligation.

The emotional timbre that you apply here is critical in the sense that it is a primary element of the entire experience. So if you would beat yourselves over the head with it, then we suggest you throw it away – do not even attempt to go down this road. But if this road is for you, then take it joyfully, with exuberance, excitement and anticipation of what will come, not a need to predict, but an excited anticipation to SEE, to DISCOVER what will turn up. If you will do this thing and do it wholeheartedly and willingly, you will see your reward in very short order. Now, in the same way that your Emmanuel tells you to love the unloveableness of the self, you will set about the task of loving and affirming everything you find while making the choices and changes within the exquisite and discrete belief systems that operate your reality creation system. This is a task worthy of your attention. This is a task worthy of joyful application.

So there!

Actually, in between the writings I did yesterday morning and the writings I did in the afternoon, I came online for a bit and ran into the following two quotes from Seth:

”Your spirit joined itself with flesh, and in flesh, to experience a world of incredible richness, to help create a dimension of reality of colors and of form. Your spirit was born in flesh to enrich a marvelous area of sense awareness, to feel energy made into corporeal form. You are here to use, enjoy, and express yourself through the body. You are here to aid in the great expansion of consciousness. You are not here to cry about the miseries of the human condition, but to change them when you find them not to your liking through the joy, strength and vitality that is within you; to create the spirit as faithfully and beautifully as you can in flesh.” ~ The Nature of Personal Reality, Session 615.

and

“You are only half conscious when you do not examine the information that comes to you from without, and when you ignore that data that comes to you from within. Many false beliefs therefore are indiscriminately accepted because you have not examined them. You have given the inner self a faulty picture of reality. Since it is the function of the conscious mind to assess physical experience, it [the inner self] hasn’t been able to do its job properly. If the inner portion of the self were supposed to have that responsibility, then you would not need a conscious mind.” ~ The Nature of Personal Reality, session 615.

Then this morning I came online to find this Seth quote as well:

[To Jane:] ”You do not have the responsibility to change the world for the better. That is, changing the world for the better is not your personal responsibility.

”You have a natural need to impress your world — to act through it, with it, and upon it; to illuminate it with your own vision, in which you automatically change it for the better. The original prerogative is the creative one, from which all benefits automatically flow.

”If you think that it is your personal responsibility alone to change the world, then you are always bound to feel a burdening sense of failure. The world is being changed through our work — but because that work is primarily a creative endeavor in the fullest, deepest meaning of that word. When you begin to hold the attitude I have just mentioned, however, you begin to insist upon immediate creative results….

”The scientist’s (Camper’s) letter had good effects in crystallizing your attitudes, in Ruburt’s [Jane’s] poetry, and in the passages for his book it also made Ruburt [Jane] think, however, that he was not changing the world in any way that mattered in any important degree; that those in authority did not even read our books, and that even my latest work (Mass Events) would make no inroads. So he did not want book dictation, on the one hand, for that reason. On the other hand, he did, of course. And again, of course, we will finish our book in our usual style.

”I do want to emphasize, however, the existence of people like the young man who came today. You are speaking to the younger generation strongly, and they are the people who will make up the fabric of so-called official establishments in the future; and they will come to those establishments with far different values than those people now ruling. Period.” ~ The God of Jane, July 12, 1979.

You’d almost think someone was trying to tell me something!  Hmmm…

See, the topic for this week’s page came out of some questions I’ve been asking myself about my place in the world, and how my focus has shifted so much from who I used to be to who I am today.  These ideas were precipitated by the surfacing of several beliefs, and in interacting with those beliefs I found myself carried along with them.  However, in addition to those quotes above, I also received one from our friend Kelly on Twitter – this one by Aristotle:

“It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.”

Inspiration has a way of finding us, when we take the time to notice its presence!  What I’ve realized, after being bombarded with information to the point that it finally found its way through – how did my guides put it (as they were quietly chewing me out)? “Understand that this is offered in love, and though it may seem that we speak with more force than necessary, it is only that we may breach thy thickness of hearing.” Anyway, what I’ve realized is that I can’t fit into this ‘new’ world’ I’m creating for myself by living the way I used to be, by being who I used to be.

In her recent post our friend Samantha talks about physically removing the past from her life in several different ways, but what I’m talking about is something different.  I’m talking about removing past beliefs from my life.  Or at least I once felt I had to do so.  If you’ve read any of my ‘Mike’s Writings‘ posts you’ll know more about my thoughts on this.  What I’m being told – from various sources, is not to bother.  Somewhere we have a little plaque that says, “Remember yesterday, dream about tomorrow, live today”, which I believe is an adaptation of Einstein’s “learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.” As they were chewing me out yesterday I was also told, “This ye know, have known, and have lived not, not to the extent that is possible for thee to achieve.  Only by reaching the boundaries of what ye believe possible can thee see further and thenceforth extend thy reach.” Sound advice, gentle but loving admonishment.

I could go on about what I’ve been working through, but sometimes I find that others have already said what I would, and this is one of those times.  From the Conscious Creation.com site again:

“Ease and Magic

It’s interesting to note that when you no longer require the complications of mental entanglements, things just drop naturally into place. Everything happens with a kind of ease. The ease itself is the nature of the new creation. Stepping into the natural flow, understanding how Framework 2 (Potentiality) surrounds and encompasses Framework 1 (Physical Manifestation/Reality), and allowing your knowingness to move easily within the larger framework. This is the realm of true magic.

Separations, Details, and Perspectives, Knowing, Labels, Value Fulfillment, Extending Trust, and Self-Leadership

When you really understand that your entire existence is a direct experience of spirit then your need for separation and the idea of separation is resolved, becomes less important. After all, separation is merely a way of choosing focus. And when you become aware of the wholeness of your being, then the separation is no longer separate, but is merely a part of the larger whole. This wholeness of being is much closer to your natural state. It is the absolute recognition that all of the so-called lines or boundaries you establish are merely representations of ideas. It is sort of like the idea of using a magnifying glass to look at some small detail. You would not then decide that the perspective seen through the magnifying glass was real and other perspectives were not. And yet, to a large extent, this has been the evolutionary path of your culture, so that all things that fall outside of the ring of glass are considered to be other than real. When taken from this perspective, it seems a ludicrous way of doing things. But when you are engrossed in the study of the detail, somehow the larger vision escapes you.

This brings us to the whole question of which you, the ego-self or the whole self and we tell you that the only way you can understand and determine the answer to this question is to spend time exploring the conscious mind, which, when you do, will illustrate to you directly that there is no separation. The conscious mind can know everything known to the whole self. It is simply a matter of choosing. When you make the assumption that the ego or conscious mind is less than, is somehow limited or cannot know, then miraculously, you don’t know. And once again the question becomes, what ideas or thoughts of identity are you willing to give up for the larger knowing?

Now this has been a natural process for the two of you. Consider, for example, applying some of the old labels of your past to yourselves at the present. You will discover that right away the labels seem confining, inaccurate, and generally unnecessary. They also have a heaviness or density of feeling which you naturally reject. You are no longer feminist, environmentalists, activists, of any particular generation, of any particular trade, or in any particular subgroup or vocational group. Instead, all of the ideas around these areas move freely as you explore yourself. There is no sense of loss in the attachment to any of these labels; rather there is a sense of expansion and freedom as you let them go. But, if you were to observe yourselves in retrospect you would see that at each moment or point, when you let go of a particular label, a certain resistance was present. This resistance made you uncomfortable in that moment. But since you had already dedicated yourselves to the new path, you tolerated this resistance and discomfort, and chose to dive into looking honestly at how the label affected your thinking. In each case, the label was discarded.

This is one of the reasons that active discussion and conversation is so necessary to the process. It is one thing to consider ideas in a vacuum; it is quite another to confront yourself through others in discussion where you actually see the biases and strictures of these ideas as they apply to your thinking. Essentially, the process is one of becoming defenseless. When you are no longer attached to any particular label or point of view within the cultural system, you no longer have to defend any particular position. This relaxation of perspective allows you to move more easily within the greater self. The cultural fears and biases around this movement suggest to you that without the labels, without the self-definitions, you will lapse into a kind of apathy which will be reflected in the larger culture in some form of destruction, decay, or even de-evolution. That is to say, without your ardent nature pushing forward in these definitions, “who will fight the bad guys,” “who will save the starving masses,” “who will save the planet?”

The truth is, once you begin to move within your larger nature you will accomplish all of these things simply by your being as you go out and create that which brings you value fulfillment. Additionally, all of those beings in contact with you through daily life will be inspired by your freedom to begin to choose their own. And ultimately, in the larger scheme of things, as more and more of you operate from the larger self, within your own trust and freedom, the positive results in your environment, among your peoples, and generally throughout your plane of existence, cannot be avoided. This is because it is the overcoming of your own fears, which allows for the possibility of the overcoming of fear within the larger structure. It is also worthwhile to note that the further you go along this road, the better you feel. And the exuberant joy that overflows from your being ripples out into your creation, into your landscape, in all directions. In this way you actually arrive at the place where your creations evolve naturally and you naturally and spontaneously gift them to yourselves and others with the full knowing and an integrated experience of the sacredness of all things. A terrible fate indeed.

We state these things in this way to stress to you the actual nature of reality as opposed to the cultural viewpoint regarding what is required of each of you. It seems natural enough in this presentation and yet it is a complete reversal of all of the rules of your society. Ultimately, it is a complete disregard for, and understanding of, the unnecessariness and uselessness of the whole concept of protecting the self. Protecting the self can only lead to restriction and limitation. And the only way to escape this fate is through total trust and absolute freedom, which you have claimed for yourselves here. It is the safe universe that your larger self knows and lives in, and when you claim it with your conscious mind, then you actually expand the framework within which you have your experience. The excitement you have been feeling comes from the new knowing, the new experiencing of choice as the only directive. This experience is allowed and comes about in direct relationship to, and in correlation with, your level of trust.

This is why that path you have followed has been one of extending trust outward and moving into it. And naturally, you have arrived at your destination, the expanded self. One of the benefits of moving into this kind of an experience in your life, is that all of the previous issues of ‘need to know,’ responsibility, karma, rightness of being, worthiness, etc. ad nauseum, are no longer issues with which you have to deal. By moving into the larger self, all of these are brought into their proper perspective. That is to say, the larger trusting and knowing overwhelms their narrow points of view so that they are no longer an issue. The expansive good humor and joy that you feel carries you effortlessly through your experiences, precisely because you now understand that there is nothing from which you need protection. This is not something that can be achieved in any other way. It is only through direct experience of the self that you may come to reside within the larger self, for it is only through the process of gently setting aside each of the self-imposed restrictions that you may enter the larger arena.

Again, in discussion, this seems such a simple task. And in its way it is profoundly simple. However, it also requires that complete leap of faith, that total reorientation of beingness. It is not something one may do half-heartedly. It is not something someone may achieve on a part-time basis. To the degree it is achieved, it is achieved completely and to the degree that it is not, it is not. Therefore, each person must find his or her own way. Each person must follow his or her own inner process. And each person’s inner process will be a natural one.

This is why the weaning of self from outside points of view and separate perspectives has been such an obvious part of the process for you, because there truly is no outside source that can take you on this journey. No matter how holy or how advanced or how eloquent any discarnate being, teacher, guru, spiritual master, or leader may be, the only one they can lead truly out of the darkness is themselves. This will be true for you as well. You provide inspiration. You touch others through your own experience. But ultimately, each person must shoulder the responsibility of their own evolutionary process if they wish to reside in the larger being of themselves. If you were able to perceive directly the teachings of all of these great masters who have come before you, you would understand that they have all told you this in their own way. And while their teachings may have been manipulated to serve other purposes and structure, the original message was always the same. There is no separation from that which is divine except the separation which you yourself impose. And no one can remove the separation but the one who imposes it. This is the basis for free will and choice and it is the basis of your experience of consciousness in this physical realm.

As you move more completely into this new experience, you will perceive the difficulty each of these masters has encountered in making this truth obvious without becoming the object of others’ deification. We are quite clear that you would not consider yourselves to be deities in this sense and the idea of others making you into deities is quite repugnant. And we suggest to any who are serious about choosing this path, that they consider the idea from the perspective of themselves becoming holy objects to others. For this will give them a sense of the illusion of an external source to any creative power.”

There’s more I could add, but with that I leave you with one final thought to ponder.  Who are you when you release all resistance from your life?  One of the most powerful yet utterly simple things I’ve been given over the years is one I’ve come back to again and again, each time from a new and deeper perspective:  Relax, let go, and let Spirit carry you.”

Love,
Mike.
